Some
Good News--Eurail Prices Go Down

Over the last few months, the dollar has gone up significantly against the euro--so much so that Eurailpass prices, which are pegged to the euro, have actually gone down in price a good bit. For example, the 15-day Global Saverpass has been lowered from $673 to $561 and a 5-day 3-country Eurail Select Saverpass now goes for $355 instead of $428. Tip: Remember you can buy a pass now at 2008 prices and use it in 2009--you only need to start the use of your pass within 6 months of purchase. Click here for current prices.

The Best On-Line Timetable
Look up current train schedules for all of Europe on the DB (German National Railway) timetable. Just click on the link at the bottom, then enter departure city, arrival city, date (format: ddmmyy) and time of travel (use 24-hour clock)--you can ignore other fields. Then click the "Search Connection" button at the bottom to find several train departures near to your departure time. (If you get the message, "Your input yielded several possible stops, please select the desired stop," choose the station from the drop-down list or simply ignore and click the search-connection button again; by default, the best station for your connection will usually be selected. If requested to type in your age, enter any number.) You can then click on "Details for All" to get travel times, train numbers, reservation requirements and other details.
